New York City Council Passes Pet Store Puppy Bill

The New York City Council recently passed new legislation which will prohibit pet stores from selling animals obtained from breeders with a previous record of violating the Federal Animal Welfare Act.  Earlier this year, the Governor signed groundbreaking legislation allowing local governments including cities, towns and counties the authority to regulate pet dealers for the first time in almost 15 years.
