PET MEDICATIONS WITH EXCLUSIVE DISTRIBUTION POLICIES

Some major manufacturers of pet medications distribute some of their products EXCLUSIVELY through veterinary practices. According to a recently released FTC Staff Report, MANUFACTURERS say

“this model is necessary to distribute their products efficiently and to ensure the safe use of their products.”

However, many of these exclusive products get DIVERTED by UNAUTHORIZED DISTRIBUTORS into the SECONDARY MARKET and are resold to online pet pharmacies.

WHY DOES THIS MATTER?

Pet Medications obtained from UNAUTHORIZED DISTRIBUTORS may be:

  • Harmfully Stored (fail to maintain temperature, light and or humidity standards).
  • Mishandled.
  • Damaged.
  • Expired.
  • Tampered.
  • Counterfeit.

Some manufacturers may NOT guarantee their products when purchased from an UNAUTHORIZED SELLER. In addition, there is a lack of transparency and accountability when products are purchased in the SECONDARY MARKET. Many manufacturers are unable to track these products!

You should always check the manufacturer’s website for their sales policies regarding AUTHORIZED SELLERS before purchasing from an online pharmacy.
