Leading Animal Hospital Group NVA Acquires Ethos Veterinary Health

National Veterinary Associates (NVA) which owns nearly 1,200 independently managed veterinary hospitals providing specialty, emergency, and general medical care for pets has recently ANNOUNCED the acquisition of Ethos Veterinary Health (Ethos). Ethos currently operates 23 animal hospitals across the U.S. with over 400 Doctors of Veterinary Medicine and includes approximately 1,900 employees.

Depending on the source, the number of veterinary practices in the United States ranges from 28,000 to 32,000 according to the 2017 AVMA Report on the Market for Veterinary Services.

According to John Volk, a senior consultant with Brakke Consulting (a leading consulting firm in the pet and veterinary industry that compiles industry statistics), the number of CORPORATE-OWNED veterinary practices in the U.S. most likely surpassed 6,000 by the end of 2020.

About Twenty-Five percent (25%) of veterinary practices will be CORPORATE-OWNED by 2023, representing half of all veterinary visits according to a forecast from Brakke Consulting (Practice, Supplier Consolidations Continue Apace (avma.org: 8.15.18)).
